The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Madonna Nera is fermented in stainless steel and aged in French tonneaux for 36 months. Carlo Ferrini is the consulting enologist on this project. La Madonna's vineyards are just a stone's throw away from the Montalcino city limits. This is a dark and contemporary expression that boasts an inky appearance and savory aromas of cured tobacco, cigar box and exotic spice. The primary fruit is very dark with prune, plum and blackberry in the mix. This Brunello offers soft lines and a more approachable style that opens its drinking window up quite a lot. It's almost ready to dink now, or you could put it aside for ten more years.

The American writer, editor and critic is the founder of the well-known The Wine Advocate, and he implemented the universal 100-point rating system. His point system has had a profound impact on how consumers and critics alike discuss and ultimately purchase wine and is now used internationally in wine shops, websites and print advertisements.

An almost decadent nose of ripe fruit and cedar with hints of mushrooms and leaves follows through to a medium body, soft and silky tannins and a juicy finish. Drink or hold.

À propos : James Suckling — James Suckling, an American wine writer and critic, is considered one of the most influential figures in the wine industry. The former lead critic of the renowned wine magazine Wine Spectator has been running his own publication since 2010. He judges using the 100-point system; wines with 95 or more points are, according to Suckling, must-buys.

Plum, blue flower, baking spice and a whiff of French oak lead the nose along with new leather. The juicy palate shows both chewy concentration and finesse, doling out raspberry compote, ripe wild cherry, vanilla, dried rosemary and coffee alongside bright acidity and fine-grained tannins. Drink 2019–2027.

À propos : Wine Enthusiast — Wine Enthusiast magazine has been in existence since 1988 and has been entertaining wine lovers across the globe for the last thirty years. The magazine’s experts blind-taste the wines and use the 100-point rating system for evaluation. The publication is not only highly praised for its wine reviews, but also for its reports on wine regions and winemakers.
